Two Recycled Dresses
Recently I borrowed a cute little book called "Little Green Dresses" by Tina Sparkles from my local library. I've been having so much fun making my own dresses that I hadn't really thought much about finding old dresses in thrift stores that I could tweak to my liking until I discovered this book.

Halibut En Papillote
Today has just felt like such a fresh crisp spring day. I bought quite a variety of fresh local greens and some fresh halibut at the market today (along with radishes and pussy willows!) and thought "What a better way to end a beautiful spring day than to turn this into tonight's meal?"
I am willing to admit that I'm not very skilled in any aspects of cooking meat or fish. I mean I can get by, but it's not usually much to write home about. I bought "Martha Stewart's Cooking School" some time last year and had made a mental note to let Martha teach me how to cook meat and fish. Well it may have taken many months for me to actually pull out the book and start my first lesson, but it's better late than never right?

Balsamic Glazed Pork Chop
It's not often that I'm left with the responsibility of cooking meat seeing as how it's really my husbands forte. However after he spent a very long day at the office yesterday, it was up to me to whip up a hearty meal for the two of us from start to finish.
I needed something quick, easy and tasty and these did not disappoint.

Dijon Potato Salad
I don't know about you, but when I return home after a vacation I can't wait to get back into my routine.
During the last day or so of our recent vacation in Montreal I felt my mind slowly being distracted with thoughts of new sewing and knitting projects.
Today (being our first real day back) I anxiously woke up early and headed to the market to stock up our empty fridge with fresh produce. There were thankfully lots of new spring offerings that made me so excited to get into the kitchen, like tatsoi and mustard frills. I've been waiting weeks (if not months) to feel this excited about produce, and it feels good!

Knitting Tote Bag
It wasn't that long ago that I told you about how I race to my sewing machine the minute plans cancel and I suddenly have free time. Well today was no exception.
Yesterday while packing my knitting in our carry-on bag for our trip to Montreal, I decided that upon our return I would sew myself up a sweet little tote bag especially for knitting with various pockets to hold needles and such. After our flight to Montreal was cancelled (with 24 hours before we could catch another one) it didn't take long for me to think of what I would do with the spare time.

Old Fashioned Cocktail
Today has been such a long day. A long shitty day.
Right now I should be in Montreal surrounded by my friends, but instead I'm home (after wasting hours at the airport for nothing).
My airline cancellation rage has subsided for the most part. And as I sip this old fashioned cocktail and feel the warmth in my belly, the only thing left to do now is relax.
I might not be where I'm supposed to be, but this is still officially vacation so we might as well make the most of it.

C-C-Changes
I've been debating ditching the name "Make Something. Everyday" for a while now. When this blog began I just felt such an urge to try to encourage people to just make something (anything!) everyday. I also felt like the title would be a nice challenge for me to make something everyday to share with the world.
Well ever since Greenvale Chocolates took off I've been finding less and less time to make new things to share. I still do make something everyday but like any household ours has its fair share of repetitive meals and crafts.
So in an effort to focus more on those precious moments that I create something new (rather than focusing on creating new things everyday) I have changed the name of my blog.
Nothing else will change, and I suppose it doesn't really mean anything. I guess it's more so for my own personal piece of mind. "Domestic Bliss" is just so much more representative of how I really feel about being a homemaker. I love it!
And speaking of repetitive meals, I think it's time for me to get started on making some quiche for dinner.
