No Knead Bread

I fell out of my constant bread baking routine sometime last year. I was on a roll there for a good 6 months or so, making all our own fresh bread every few days. But then I'd miss a day of bread baking, my husband would buy a loaf from the store and before I knew it I'd completely fallen off the bread baking wagon.
From my experience the best way to get yourself back into a routine like that is to find a way to make it feel new and fresh, like with the help of a new recipe.
I have literally been meaning to try this recipe for years. Apparently all I really needed to get my butt in gear was to have a friend make it first and show me just how easy and delicious it really is.
And now it's your turn. Don't wait any longer to make this bread. It really is the easiest and most delicious bread and before you know it, you'll be baking a few loaves each week because you just can't get enough.

June Garden Tour

Things are really in full swing here in my backyard. I am officially swimming in salad greens (I've given away 3 grocery bags full of greens in the past week and still have so much left to eat) and am starting to think this is going to be a theme this summer. Thankfully most everything else I'll be growing will be preservable.

Come take a peek into my garden...

Asparagus Chorizo Hash

Mmm-mm, this was so good!
Hit-the-spot good.
Making-me-crave-it-for-dinner-again-tonight good.
My mind is truly everywhere else right now, so I don't know what else I can say to make you want to cook this. It's just damn good!

Wanna help out a hard working young entrepreneur?

Hey everyone,
I've got a little bit of serious business to discuss with you. My husband is one of 8 finalists to win a national innovative young entrepreneur award from the Business Development Bank of Canada. It's currently up to an online vote, and if he wins he'll be awarded $100,000 grant to expand his business!

For anyone who doesn't know my husband, he really truly is (I'm not biased I swear!) the hardest working person I've ever met. His passion for his craft and determination to succeed is rather mind blowing. He opened his first cafe with his business partner almost three years ago, opened a second one this year, and with this grant will open a coffee roastery.
He plans on buying all his coffee directly from farmers (quite different from fair-trade) seasonally and in small lots, and is excited to bring this buying model and level of quality to the coffee roasting industry in Nova Scotia.

If you care at all about ethical delicious coffee, supporting local economies, or young entrepreneurs you NEED to help us out and VOTE!

VOTE HERE:  https://www.bdcyoungentrepreneuraward.ca/profile_4.php
VOTE EVERYDAY AND  TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

We've been bouncing back and forth between 1st and 2nd place and there's only 6 days left to vote. Every vote counts! Please help!Pin It

Chickpea Salad Sandwich

Sounds a bit weird, eh? But trust me it's oh-so-good. Just the kind of super healthy snack I've been craving lately.

Oatcakes

Lately my pregnancy has left my appetite so all over the map. Hungry almost always, but so quickly and easily filled up that regular meals just don't work so well anymore.
I feel like I'm constantly searching for quick healthy snacks that I don't get bored of. Sometimes it feels like the search is endless.

Well today I think I found a new snack that I hopefully won't get sick of in the next 3 months, cause these are perfect! Oats, whole wheat flour, nuts, flax and just enough sweetener to make them addictive. Yum!

Asparagus Salad

Do you ever have those moments when you have an idea for a dish or meal that slowly evolves into merely a shell of it's former self? Well that happens to me sometimes, like when I wanted to make a spring Panzanella salad and wound up with this.
Baked croutons, asparagus, dill, bitter greens, and some green onions are dressed in olive oil, lemon juice, a little garlic and lots of shaved extra old gouda.
The end result really reminded me of the flavours of my favourite Kale Salad but with more texture and diversity. This one's a keeper for sure!

Baby Knit Overalls

How cute are these little overalls??
I used this pattern from Ravelry which I've been eyeing for a long time now. I made a few mistakes here and there but really didn't feel motivated to go back and fix them. Oh well! I don't think my little guy will care.
